The graphic represents the relationship between survival capacity increase, i.e. success ≈ a win, and its signal, namely happiness. The green zone indicates where signals are too weak to be perceived in ordinary everyday consciousness. The edges at the top and bottom of the green zone represent the happiness and unhappiness trip-switch settings and which may be shifted (i.e. customised) up and down to suit preference or need.
